Lexis minus her tonsils.

This was before surgery as you can tell!

So the day after Christmas Lexis had her tonsils out. It went a lot better than I expected. She was very calm and actually excited about the surgery. I think she was most happy about having "room service". Funny girl, what she forgot to think about was that she couldn't eat much liquids and soft foods only! So since pictures are worth 1,000 words here they are.

Again before surgery in her room before going to the waiting room.

This is Dr. Lyons talking to Lex before her surgery. He is so funny!

Group photo before they took her off to surgery. Grandma Helmick, Grandma Diercks, Lexis and Me.

Lexis is smiling just minutes before getting put under.

It will all be over soon Lex.

Here is what they took out. Uhhhh!

Lexis waking up in recovery. My poor Lex. I knew how she felt....MISERABLE.

She attempted to eat about 3 hours after surgery. Opps it didn't stay down. Second times a charm, right?

Her room mate was also having her tonsils removed too. Well after about 3 hours she wanted to go home. Lexis ears perked up and asked me if she could go home too. WE asked the nurse and she said, "Sure if you are feeling okay." She jumped up and then that is when she got sick. So we stayed about another 2 hours then she was discharged. This was when Heather took out her IV.

When we got home I gave her another dose of her pain medicine. It made her very sick so we decided to stick to Tylenol and Motrin. She has very little pain which is very good! She has been playing her guitar hereo she got for Christmas. That sure takes her mind off it all!

Christmas Time!

So wow I can't believe it is Christmas time. Lexis sang really good in her choir a few weeks ago. I was extremely proud of her. I remember being her age and singing in choir as well and now here I am as a Mother watching her do the same thing! She has an amazing voice!

So this year it is a toss up between, "Is Santa real or not?" Huh this Mom is staying out of that! Lexis is really excited about Christmas and is thrilled with how many presents she sees under the tree.

I hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas!

The Bithday Party!

So we had Lexis's party at Gator's restaurant. She had one of her friends come and spend the night. Since her sister Emeline's birthday is the day after hers we normally just lump the parties together. It was a nice family celebration. Here are a few pictures of her party!

Wow it is so hard to believe how fast she is growing up. Lexis is very picky with her clothes. I sometimes get frustrated with her but I have to stop and remember she needs to be who she is! The teenage years are just around the corner!

"Happy 10th Birthday Lexis!"

"Happy 1oth Birthday Lexis!"

Well Lexis is TEN today. Unbelieveable to me. It only seems like yesterday she was born. She was a very long and thin little baby. She had very little hair. She was my little baby doll. That is actually how she got her nickname- "Lexidoll!" Here is a picture of her at 2 days old. Her little fingers and toes were so long and skinny. She was a beutiful baby.

Last night we walking in our town's Homecoming parade. Brian was the school mascot, the bulldog. Lexis and I had made the float. On one side it had Grimes on it and the other had Bulldogs. It took us about 10 hours to make. Lex helped me for about 4 of those hours. She was first reluctant to help me but once I persuaded her she loved to help and was so good at it. It turned out so well.

Here is a few pictures at the parade. How cute are they?

Here was the back. Had to make a Bulldog. I did this by myself while Lex was at school. She loved it!

Here is Brian in the Bulldog costume. Poor guy he was so hot. The parade was about 3 miles long.

Wow what an awesome night. Lexis and Emeline were both complaining their feet were sore but all in all it was so much fun. All the hard work did pay off. We will definately have to do this AGAIN!

SHE MADE IT!

I am so happy to report that Lexis made the Shoquoquoh Children's Choir. I just knew she would! The letter came on Saturday. I let her open it. I told her no matter what the letter said that we loved her and we know that she has a beautiful singing voice. She opened it and said, "I got it!" I was so excited for her. Practice starts this next Monday. Yippee Lexis! My Lexis is going to be a singer, like her Mom. I couldn't be more proud!

I'm also glad to tell you she is feeling much better. The antibodics worked and her cough is dying down. Well not in the morning of course. She went back to school today and was not a happy camper when I told her to wake up. Okay who is happy to wake up? Nice to be back to normal!

Lexis has pneumonia.

Lexis is home today sick. Pray for her she is pretty miserable.

Well Lexis started coughing about 4 days ago. She wanted to stay home from school yesterday but I told her she wasn't sick so she had to go. I gave her an allergy pill and sent her on her way. Well the school called while I was at the dentist with Emeline. (She had a bad toothache.) The nurse said that Lexis had a fever and I needed to come and get her. I explained where I was and told her I would be there as soon as I could. I then called Grandma Helmick and asked her if she would go get Lex. When I got home she was coughing non-stop. I took her temperature and it was 102! Brian had to work so I called my Mom to stay with the girls while I took her to the doctor.

The doctor immediately wanted xrays. Her lungs didn't sound right to him. So off we went. Luckily the hospital wasn't busy and we got in and out of xray very fast. The doctor said her right lung was hazy and her left one had mucus in it. I felt so bad. So pneumonia and I thought she was faking! Poor girl. He prescribed some antibodics and told her to rest.
Here is how she is looking right now. She loves Subway so we got that for her. She is finally getting her appetite back.

She is such a trouper. Good news is she will have a long weekend to heal. They are off on Monday becasue of Labor Day!

The Choir Audition.

I took Lexis to her first Choir audition last night. I was nervous for her but she was pretty calm. I asked her if it was okay if I went in with her. "No Mom" was her reply. When they called her name I got up too. I wanted to be there. The teacher led us into a very small room. The only thing in it was a piano and a chair. I sat on the chair and didn't look at Lexis. She was instructed to stand by the piano. She asked her to sing some scales on the piano. She was to go higher and higher with her voice each time. The teacher would sing then Lexis would repeat. Then she did the lower scale. Next it was time for Lex to sing, "My Country Tis of Thee." Tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to my daughter sing. She was all grown up. I was very impressed. Next she had to clap a few rhythmic beats. Lexis got 3 of the 4 right. Last she had to repeat after the teacher lulu notes. I believe she got all 4 of those right. The audition only lasted about 5 minutes. I was so proud of her. I waited until we were out in the Suburban to tell her I was happy she did this and that she did great!

They said we will get a letter in the mail on Friday letting us know if she made it or not. I'm excited for her.

Lexis is a wonderful singer. She takes after her Mother. I love to sing!

Lexis Alise

Lexis will be TEN in less that two months. She is my sensative daughter. She can get her feelings hurt pretty quickly. She loves animals. If she knows that someone is not feeling well she tries to find ways of cheering them up. Her favorite thing to do in the summer is swim. Her day consists of being in the water all day long. I wouldn't be surprised if she started to grow fins! The sun is catching up with her. I insist she put on sunscreen but many times it is the last thing on her mind. The tricks she can do are amazing. Her and Emeline put on really wonderful shows in the water. They choreograph it to their favorite songs. So I often listen to "I kissed a girl" by Katy Perry or "The Best of Both Worlds" by Miley Cirus. She is a very talented young lady.

Lexis also loves to write short stories. I told her I would start this blog but I thought it might be good if she writes her own updates. She is very smart and likes school. I might add she is very crafty. There is not a project she won't take on whether it is painting, molding clay or just doing a stamp book. She is such a sweet girl.

Lexis touched my heart last night and I just have to share this....She asked me if I loved her. I froze for a second. I replied, "Honey you know I love you." Later as she was getting ready to go to sleep I went in her room and told her I have loved her since the day I knew she was growing in my tummy. She means the world to me!
